If time permits oral comments during the discussion regarding bar code label
requirements, please include the following comments:

Palomar-Pomerado Health (PPH) in Escondido, CA is a 2 hospital health-system
serving an 800 square mile area in the northern portion of San Diego County.
The health-system's Patient Safety Committee is currently reviewing bar coding
systems as a method for reducing medication errors.  Bar codes added at the
point of manufacture will better reduce medication errors than a system
requiring human intervention to bar code medications in each hospital.  PPH
supports any efforts of the FDA to standardize bar codes for drug products.
