From: LilSpark3@aol.com Sent: Monday, March 19, 2001 3:13 PM To: fdadockets@oc.fda.gov Subject: re: dockets 00N-1396 and OOD-1598 I have been made aware of recent FDA proposals which would allow companies and farmers to keep information concerning the genetic purity of their products secret from consumers. Every day more information about the harmful effects of genetically engineered food is made known. Even if the food industry claims that these allegations are false, it should be up to the consumer to know what is in her or his food, and to make their own decisions about what they put into their body. As a citizen who must eat the products of these companies, and whose children someday will as well, I demand that FDA change its policy, to require labeling and pre-market safety testing of all genetically engineered foods.
