Subject: Petition 98P-0151/CP1

I support Petition 98P-0151/CP1 that would prohibit the slaughter of
downed animals.  I am saddened by the thought of these injured/sick
creatures being dragged to their slaughter by chains or pushed by
tractors.  Refusing to slaughter the downers will give incentives to
ranchers and farmers to keep their animals for market well enough to
walk and thus result in better care of the animals during their lives. 
Please grant this petition!
