From: Gail M Beeson [g.beeson@juno.com] Sent: Tuesday, May 15, 2001 4:20 PM To: FDADockets@oc.fda.gov Subject: Docket #98P-0151/CP1 Dear FDA, This is a note of support of Docket #98P-0151/CP1. I have been writing letters for several years to as many people and agencies as I know of to try and stop the horrible inhumane treatment of "downed animals." I want to go on public record as being in support of completely prohibiting the slaughter of downed animals. These animals have suffered enough in their lives and should be humanely euthanized on-farm. It is my hope that with this prohibition in place that those who have the job of working with livestock will have an incentive to treat animals with humanity and help prevent the injuries that cause "downed animals" in the first place. Thank you for no longer accepting ground beef that includes product from non-ambulatory cattle from Federal programs. Thank you for supporting this petition. It is the right thing to do. Most sincerely, Gail Beeson 14520 26th Dr. SE Mill Creek, WA 98012
