I urge you IN THE STRONGEST POSSIBLE TERMS to require mandatory pre-market comprehensive environmental review of these products. And I urge you in at least equally strong terms to require that all foods containing genetically engineered ingredients be required to carry labels to that effect. We are said to live in a democracy, where information is NOT withheld from us--as it is, we continue to complain-- scandalized--in totalitarian societies. It is absolutely contradictory to the basic tenets of a self-proclaimed "free" and "open" society that our consumers not be fully and completely informed concerning the foods we purchase. YOU might choose to ingest genetically engineered foods, and that is your right: but it is MY right to know what I am consuming, so that I, too, can make a relatively free and informed choice. Sincerely, Jane Winston
