From: Lisa Hilgendorf [lhilgendorf@yahoo.com] Sent: Sunday, March 25, 2001 6:33 PM To: fdadockets@oc.fda.gov Subject: Docket 00N-1396 & Docket 00D-1598 To Whom it May Concern: I am writing to implore the FDA to create more stringent standards on genetically engineered products in the U.S. markets. It is vitally important that consumers be protected from potentially harmful altered products. Specifically I hope the FDA will impose measures that will: 1. require both short-term and long-term health and ecological testing on genetically engineered products, 2. require clear and understandable labeling on products that are genetically engineered, 3. NOT restrict the labeling of natural products that would like to put on their labels that the product is not genetically engineered, and 4. keep consumer interest above corporate interests. The future health of our country and its people may rely on these measures, please adopt them in your policies towards genetically engineered products.
