I know the manufacturers of such foods have sunk an enormous amount of money into their campaign against such labeling, but the citizens of this nation deserve to know the truth about what we are putting into our bodies. I'm sure the food manufacturers mounted a similar campaign against the nutritional labeling of foods that is now commonplace -- and that now makes it possible for people to choose foods that, for example, do not contain ingredients that are harmful to them (such as in the case of allergy). We deserve no less in this case. In order not to make a mockery of everything the FDA stands for, it MUST: * require mandatory comprehensive pre-market review of such foods * require mandatory pre-market long-term health testing of them * require mandatory labeling of genetically modified products * finally, end its cozy relationship with the industries it's supposed to be regulating Please remember: you work for the people, NOT the monied special interests. Thank you for you attention. -------------------------------------------------------------- Tom Davis 6100 Wagon Bend 512-443-0918 Austin, TX 78744 tmd@realtime.net
