I have a right to know what I am eating, especially in today's world of high cancer rates. I do not want to eat or purchase unknowingly any food product that has been irradiated. Most Americans do not want to buy irradiated food. Since we live in a democracy, the majority should be able to decide about these kinds of issues. When food is irradiated harmful free radicals are created and the antioxidant vitamins necessary to fight them are destroyed! Also trace amounts of radioactivity may also be created. In my opinion risks of irradiated food far outweigh any benefits. However, if we can't stop the process from happening we can choose not to eat it, that is, if the labeling is adequate. PLEASE MAKE SURE THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION FULFILLS THE GOVERNMENT'S ROLE OF PROTECTING CONSUMERS BY MAINTAINING CLEAR AND UNAMBIGUOUS LABELING REQUIREMENTS FOR IRRADIATED FOOD. Thank you!!! (And please let me know what is being done on your part to address this issue) Sincerely, Lauren Osornio 343 Depot Road Boxborough, MA 01719
