To: Director, USDA From: Darlene and John Grove, Box 77, Stevensville, MT 59870 We are unalterably opposed to genetically engineered food, plants or etc. We live in an agricultural community where there is much discussion about this process, so we have attempted to obtain information and understand it. From that research, we have found that this process should be shelved. It has not been proven that these organisms or processes are not harmful to humans, plants and animals. There is not enough public monies to do the research necessary to protect the public, and we cannot trust the corporations to do that and protect our land, water, food chain, wild animals or whatever. These genetically engineered crops should not be allowed out of the laboratory, into the market and the wild. In addition, they should be labeled and the biotechnology corporations that manufacture them must be held responsible for any harm they have caused or will in the future. We cannot allow industry to force genetically engineered products into the market and our environment without knowing what will happen when these altered organisms interact with the natural or wild. "Science only measures those aspects of reality we can control, leaving out all those aspects of reality that are beyond our ability to control. Please give my concerns and those of my family your utmost consideration. Thank you.
