As a health care professional, mother and American citizen I demand that the FDA require labeling of all genetically engineered foods and require manditory independent safety testing on all ge products before they are allowed onto the market. Almost all scientists agree that it is highly probable that genetically engineered foods will be responsible for creating disastrous health effects on humans and the environment. The only scientists that are not concerned about this issue are industry paid and forced to sign confidentiality agreements against speaking out about the truth of how destructive and dangerous this technology is. All other countries of the industrialized world are starting to require labeling of all GE Foods in the market place. Europe, Russia, Australia, South Korea and other countries already have laws in place to protect their citizens and many other countries are getting ready to follow. Does the FDA and the US Goverment want to be the only country to allow itself to be paid off to protect industry profit motives instead of the public health. If you do not require labeling you will prove that the FDA has no concern whatsoever for the good of the public health and the American public will no longer have any reason to trust anything that you stand for.
