(FDA Dockets 00N-1396 and 00D-1598) Dear Corporate and Government Leaders, Genetically engineered food ingredients or crops should not be allowed on the market until: 1) Independent safety testing demonstrates they have no harmful effects on human health or the environment, 2) They are labeled to ensure the consumer's right-to-know, and 3) The biotechnology corporations that manufacture them are held responsible for any harm. I am adamently opposed to the FDA's new proposed rule and guidance on GE foods. Voluntary labeling and voluntary notification are absolutely not adequate enough to protect our health and our environment. We are all in emminent danger of losing our precious seed supply and our multi-milennium,tried and true food sources, including our ancient corn. As a committed and dedicated farmer/ gardener who works very closely with the earth, soil and crops everyday, I urge you, I implore you to cease and desist from these manipulative methods and practices. We, the consumers are at the end of this chain of calculated maneuvers and I assure you that we have voices and wallets and pen and paper. These all speak alot louder than quiet corn, wheat, canola, cotton and soybeans growing in their fields. STOP NOW and DO THE RIGHT THING! Sincerely Mariah Neary 100 Hoyt's Hill Rd Bethel, Connecticut 06801
