Subject: Petition 98P-0151/CP1 Prohibiting slaughter of downed animals

     Sick or injured animals should not be allowed to be used for human consumption.  In addition to the obvious cruelty to the animals before slaughter, there is also the possibility that the meat contaminated.
      If this practice of slaughtering downed animals is prohibited, it will make hardly any impact on anybody's bottom line as the actual number of downed animals is probably not too great.
      Please give the granting of Petition 98P-0151/CPl your favorable consideration.
