Questions
1. General Comments My comments center around a single proposition. When one is not sure of the effects of something one may ingest, one either does not ingest it, or in very small quantities. There have been no long term studies, especially ones which can accurately represent field conditions, to base a decision allowing genetically modified food to continue to be offered to the public without prior notification. It is bad enough that is goes on at all and that it is as widespread as it already is! If these products are safe and represent genuine improvements to what nature already offers than labeling would do nothing but allow these products to shine. They haven't found a shine gene have they? The wax industry wanted to know. All we are asking is we be altered to genetic tampering prior to purchase. We understand that the short term studies funded by corporate agri-business have not noted any substantial difference between genetically altered food and natural products, however we respectfully insist on the right to choose for ourselves. Do we not have the right as citizens of this country to not be experimented on against our will? Do not bow to corporate pressure. Do what is right and fair to all. If it cannot be banned then at least put labels on it and let the almighty market decide.
