Comments for FDA General
Questions
1. General Comments It is essential that there be MANDATORY labelling for genetically engineered foods, since it's clear manufacturing companies will not do so voluntarily. We, the consumers, have a right to know whether our food has been tampered with. We subscribe to the precautionary approach, and as yet there have been no long-term tests done on GE foods. Also, the margin of error in the labeling of GE free foods should be in the 2% range, as it is in other countries---not 0% which is impossible to attain because of drift and other factors. Do not cenure the ability of companies to label their food GE-free.
