Comments for FDA General
Questions
1. General Comments I am frustrated and worried that the FDA is not requiring premarket tests of the safety of bioengineered foods. I am particularily concerned that genetic drift will contaminate and change the non-bioengeneered gene pool forever. Your own regulations re labling of non-bioengeered foods acknowledge this threat but do not address it. Your policies and practices concerning bioengeered foods manifestly are biased toward the corporations developing and selling these foods. I find you derelict in your sword duty and responsibility to protect the people of this country and place their interests and safety before the profits motives of corporations. It is sad to see the revolving door of FDA directors and policy makers and the very corporations and industry they are supposed to regulate. The integrity and trustworthyness of the FDA in this matter is bankrupt. I do salute you in how you genuinely responded to public comment in forming the guidelines to lable food products organic. I hope you can rally to this demonstration of responsibility to the public interest in the regulation of bioengeered foods.
