Comments for FDA General
Questions
1. General Comments From what I understand the proposed rules for labeling bioengineered foods doesn't actually label bioengineered foods - it puts the burden on those companies choosing NOT to use bioengineered foods. To me this sounds like one more time agri-business & large corporations are being put before the public's right to information, health, and saftey. I should have the right to choose exactly what I put in my body - this is the only one I get and I'd like it to last. Can't companies who choose not to use bioengineered foods already opt to say so on their product? Why would the FDA waste their time telling those companies that they can go ahead and do something they can already do? (excpet to throw the public a bone - no thank you) Please don't let the companies that use biongineered foods off the hook - if they want to use something that so much of the world's population doesn't like, make them shoulder the burden. The proposed solution is not acceptable to us, the public, your employers/clients/customers.
