From: Andrew Lindsey [alindsey@acsu.k12.vt.us] Sent: Tuesday, February 06, 2001 10:32 AM To: fdadockets@oc.fda.gov Subject: dockets 00n-1369 FDA, Just passing along the openning sentence from a report, "Elements of Precaution: Recommendations for the Regulation of Food Biotechnology in Canada," put out by the Royal Academy of Canada: "If the Royal Society of Canada scientific panel had its way, GM crops and foods would be more rigorously tested, the testing would be independently reviewed, and there would be a moratorium on GM fish grown in farms on Canada's coasts." This is just the begining. The report also urged those regultaing GMO's to realize the public's desire for labeling is not based soley on health concerns. The public wants the opportunity to cast an economic vote on the practice of GMO production via their purchasing power. Make labeling mandatory and tighten up your regulations.
