Mark my words for the future: I envision that the FDA and the country at large will rue the day that labeling of bioengineered food was not mandatory. It is possible that years later when effects of continual ingestion of bioengineered foods cause birth defects, or other environmental problems in nature, live stock and people, there will be no way to trace what it was that caused this problem. Only if there is clear labeling of what consumers are eating and/or using will there be any hope of being able to trace what went wrong years later.
Voluntary labeling is not enough, this should be mandatory.
