    My name is Diana Gondek, and I reside and own my home in Brockton, 
Massachusetts. 
    I write this letter to request that you grant petition 98P-0151/CPI to 
prohibit the slaughter of downed animals.   
    I have no reason not to believe the representations of organizations 
such as Farm Sanctuary, World Society for the Protection of Animals, etc. 
that this petition is necessary to prevent the horrifying abuses, of which 
you are aware and which are deliberately and indiscriminately perpetrated 
upon the animals. 
    I am sure that you would agree that there is no justification for any 
living creatures to have to suffer cruelty, pain, torture, or flagrant 
atrocities. 
    I would appreciate it if you would stand up for these animals' rights 
and grant this petition. Thank you.
