From: Ron Jacobs [rjacobs@zoo.uvm.edu] Sent: Tuesday, February 13, 2001 11:35 AM To: fdadockets@oc.fda.gov Subject: GM Labelling To whom it concerns: I am wiring in response to the FDA plans not to require labelling of gentically-modified foodstuffs. It seems to me that American citizens have the right to make an educated choice about the food they eat. This is not possible unless foods are clearly labelled as to their ingredients and the relevant facts about those ingredients. Whether or not a food is grown (or fed with food grown) from genetically modified seeds is a relevant fact and should be provided to the consumer. If there is nothing wrong with GM foods, why not let the customer decide whether or not s/he wants to consume them? -Ron Jacobs Burlington, VT
