Failure to do so will allow slaughterers to continue their careless behavior in treating these animals in a manner that doesn't even approach that which could be described as 'humane'(which is essentially unachievable in a process that ends in death.) Currently, slaughters have no incentive NOT to let animals suffer unmentionnable deaths, as the bottom line remains the same for them regardless of the manner in which the creatures' last breaths on earth were spent.
