Dear Madame or Sir:

It has come to our attention that you are being petitioned to change the
status of a so-called morning-after-pill from prescription to
over-the-counter.

We would like to express our strong opposition to such a move. 
Considering the uncertainty that still swirls around the safety of
standard birth control pills, making this powerful drug available over
the counter is certainly a mistake as far as women's health is concerned.

It also needs to be emphasized that these drugs do act as abortifacients
at least some of the time.  This means they really ought to be banned
altogether, instead of being made even more easily available.
