From: michael henstrom [henstrom.1@osu.edu] Sent: Friday, March 02, 2001 12:46 AM To: FDADockets@oc.fda.gov Subject: Morning after pill To whom it may concern I am writing voicing my concern about the push by some to have the FDA pass a law making it legal to dispense the "morning after pill" over the counter. It seems to me that this is being done under the guise that it will prevent abortions. What it really is doing is commiting abortion. I believe that every man and women was born to this earth with one of the greatest things--free agency. We all have been given this ability to act for ourselves. The downfall of our society is that we are not making people accountable for their actions. Recently, in Reno, Nevada, a man has been accused of molesting dozens to hundreds of children with 500 video tapes as evidence. Some of these kids and parents of these children are defending the action of this child molester by saying that he is a "good guy." This should make us all sick that parents of children are supporting a pervert who is molesting their children. It is pretty obvious that this man should be punished for his actions and be held accountable. We should be equally outraged at the lack of accountablitity every day by those who get pregnant and treat the new zygote, embryo, fetus, as though it were an unwelcome parasite. The decision was made to have unprotected sex and that decision cannot be left without consequences, whether it be a sexually transmitted disease or pregnancy. It outrages me that our society has gotten to the point that we could think about going to the local pharmacy to buy a murder weapon, use it to kill and go on like nothing ever happened. The more lenient we are on this matter, the worse our society will get. Bring some morals back to this country and take a stand against this new proposal to make the "morning after pill" an over-the-counter medication.
