Comments for FDA General
Questions
1. General Comments To: Commissioner Jane E Henney, M.D. FDA As an American taxpayer and female health professional, I'm writing to request that the FDA require pharmaceutical companies to disclose the source of estrogens used in the manufacture of Premarin and other non-synthetic hormone replacement therapies. Specifically, I urge you to require that: All repackaged bottles and other containers issued by pharmacies for PREMARIN and similar products be clearly labeled as containing estrogens derived from horse urine. All print advertising in newspapers/magazines for Premarin and similar products clarify that these drugs are derived from the urine of pregnant mares. These estrogens have been derived from pregnant mares' urine and thousands of mares are being exploited and thousands of foals are slaughtered annually to produce these drugs. I think the consumer needs to be aware of this. Women should be allowed to make informed choices from the information given to them. That is why I urge you to INSIST that the manufacturers of Premarin make FULL DISCLOSURE...it's high time !
