March 30, 2001 We urge you to exercise the utmost caution in allowing the release of genetically-engineered food for human or animal consumption without the most stringent pre-market testing and environmental impact review. We also hope you will require comprehensive labeling of any such products to insure that consumers are fully aware of the contents of the food items they purchase. Since science still doesn't know exactly how a flu virus mutates, we think the aforementioned measures in dealing with genetically modified products are plain common sense.
