I am very opposed to genetically engineered food on the whole, thinking it a complete travesty to nature and all life on earth in general. However, the grim reality is that it exists thanks to the likes of such benevolent corporations as Monsanto. I for one, and for many surely, am strongly in favor of: premarket safety testing premarket environmental testing absolutely the mandatory labeling of all gen.and modified foods on the market public access to all information and studies done on GE food. This is absolutely essential, that all citizens of this nation are informed of what we are ingesting. That we know and have the choice to choose genetically engineered food if we wish. I have read in some sources that polls are showing that people would rather not have GE food but then are trusting FDA that it is safe. If people are aware that it is the food they are buying is GE and still choose to but it that is one thing. Then it should be labeled, still. However, what about those who are completely unaware of the type of food they are buying and would not buy it had they had read that is was genetically engineered. This is one of the strongest arguments. Why is there such deceit going on, such disrespect and utter disregard for us consumers? The ones whom allow Monsanto to exist, who put money into their pockets. It must stop! The people in England and France weren't rioting for nothing when it came to this issue. We need as a nation come together in unity and demand our rights to know what's in out sustenance. Please heed our requests.
