From: Kathy834@aol.com Sent: Friday, June 08, 2001 1:39 AM To: fdadockets@oc.fda.gov Subject: docket 98P-0151/CP1 I am urging you to grant the petition to prohibit the slaughter of downed animals (docket 98P-0151/CP1). Removing the market for downed animals provides incentive to treat animals better, moving downed animals humanely is impossible as they are typically pushed with tractors or dragged with chains to the slaughter house, NO living creature deserves to be subjected to that kind of pain after they have given ie. milk, even IF they are to be used for meat. Ninety percent of downed animals can be prevented with better care and handling, if not, the euthanize at the site of the downing. Thanks for reading this letter.
