An animal that is sick should be able to make it into our food chain. Another point would be to make sure ALL animals are treated with some compassion before they are to be killed. This would decrease the instances of animals becoming "downers" because of inhumane treatment. Isn't it enough that they are being killed for food in the first place without having to be beaten and tortured in their last moments of life?
