From: The Kohles' [rodglizk@yahoo.com] Sent: Wednesday, June 06, 2001 1:11 PM To: FDADockets@oc.fda.gov Subject: FHA-305 I have just been informed there is a petition with FDA to allow sales of "abortion pills" without a physician's prescription. I believe this practice to be unacceptable for several reasons, the primary two to be: 1. Any form of abortion-inducing medication or procedure results in the death of the human fetus which is socially & spiritually unacceptable, 2. As a professional nurse who has researched the history & "blind-study testing" of this medication, I find long-term effects to the mother have NOT been adequately determined...We must ALWAYS remember how the use of Thalidomide produced horrific birth defects when THAT medication was considered "safe" by many. That tragedy affected the viable babies born to mothers who took the medication during the pregnancy. Another tragedy CAN be revisited, this time to the millions of women who would be taking this "abortion pill" at-will because HFA-305 was approved without FDA's COMPLETE study & testing....What possible risks could this medication offer to women, particularly those women who will use it to abort a pregnancy 2, 3, or 4 times? Please consider this question. Please consider the safety of the population in your charge. PLEASE DENY PETITION # HFA-305...FOR THE SAKE ALL THE UNBORN BABIES & ALL THE MOTHERS WHO WOULD RECEIVE THIS TREATMENT.
