The FDA should not to approve the current application by A/F Protein to sell GE Salmon. Genetically engineered fish can become an invasive species that can cause irreversible ecological damage to wild fish stocks as well as the marine ecosystem. There is no guarantee that these fish really will be sterile. Sterile genetically engineered fish would still compete with wild fish for food, habitat and will effect the overall marine ecology. Once released into ocean ponds, fish will escape and, since fish do not obey national boundaries. As an American citizen, if this request were to be granted, I would be ashamed that this great country would be placing the rest of the world at risk because of our poor judgement and lack of foresight. Please do not to approve the current application by A/F Protein for GE Salmon. GE fish pose too great a risk to the environment and to human health.
