My father believed in organic gardening and he lived to be 89 years old.  My 
mother is now 97 and she grew up on a farm.  There is something to be said 
for plain good healthy vegetables and fruits.  Now that seems like a thing of 
the past.  Genetically engineered food is not normal.  I realize that cattle 
are given GE grain already.  The cause of cancer is going up at an alarming 
rate in this country and all things must be considered as a cause.  Please 
look at the following needs: 

1- The FDA must require mandatory pre-market safety testing. 
2- The FDA must require mandatory pre-market environmental review.  
3- The FDA must require mandatory labeling of GE foods.  This one is 
considered to be most important for me because it will give each of us a 
choice.  Most people do not want to eat GE food, but given the choice based 
on price and labeling, they can do as they choose. 
4- The health and environmental risk is too great to ignore.    No one really 
knows the risk 

THE GOVERNMENT HAS BEEN WRONG BEFORE. 
I plan to check out a farm in my area to see if they have used GE seeds.  See
