This is a travesty against the american public. The new rules would deny us the right to know what is in our food and clearly protects the economic interests of biotech corporations. Without proper labelling americans would be exposed to potential health effects the full extent of which is not yet known . We urge you to require both labelling and mandatory safety testing of foods in order not to put the american consumers health at risk. These recommendations are in keeping with those provided by the Biotechnology Consultataive Forum. The united states is already going against the grain in allowing genetically engineered food within its borders whereas many occidental countries do not . The very least we can do is to tell americans about any GE content in their food by making sure any such foods are labelled so that they can make informed decisions about the food they consume. Pleeeeeeaaassse reconsider this proposal for the very safety of the americans you are trying to protect. We americans are already unhealthy enough as it is and genetically engineered foods could possibly worsen what is already a very grave situation. regards marisa flood -- This e-mail may contain confidential and/or privileged information.
