In addition to the inhumanity of torturing further these hapless animals, the meat of these animals poses a grave risk to human lives. As a pediatrician who specializes in Nutrition and Gastroenterology for children, I am appalled at the entry of bacteria and possiblly "slow viruses" like Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy into the food supply of children and adults in the United States.
