Animals who are too sick or injured even to stand should not be allowed to enter the human food chain. Once animals are downed, it is practically impossible to move them humanely and instead they are pushed with tractors or dragged. It continues to amaze me that we as an American society place so much compassion and value on our pets yet continue to accept without question this insensitive, barbaric and cruel treatment given to farm animals! According to Farm Sanctuary, "industry experts have estimated that 90% of downed animals can be prevented with better care and handling. Removing the market for downed animals will provide an incentive for the industry to prevent downed animals in the first place." Thank you for your consideration, Cathy Graves 503-252-0908 (w) 6978 SW Montauk Circle Lake Oswego, OR 97035
