From: Priscilla Argyle [yetirak@yahoo.com] Sent: Tuesday, October 17, 2000 1:42 PM To: FDADockets@oc.fda.gov Subject: Docket # 98P-0151/CP1 10/17/00 Dear U.S.F.D.A. Administrators, Downed animals intended for human consumption are just another unknown hazard that the public faces if you consider for one moment the dire possiblity of the infections that could set in with an animal that has been injured in transit and then passed along to an unwary consumer. By disal- lowing the use of these animals a very small loss would be made to the industry and the public would also be protected from mad cow disease as well. Since 90% of downed animals could be prevented by granting of the above named petition it would also give incentive to treat our food animals more hum- manely. Sincerely, Dr. & Mrs. John F.
