Dear Ms. Henney,
 
I greatly regret the new rules announced for genetically engineered 
 (GE)foods. It is absolutely imperative that your agency require safety 
testing and mandatory labeling. 
The “notification” policy is completely inadequate. I am concerned that GE 
food are a potential health hazard and contribute to environmental 
problems. Many believe that these foods could be toxic, could cause 
allergic responses, could have lower nutrition value, could compromise 
immune responses in consumers, and could cause irreparable damage to the 
environment. I believe these concerns should be settled before foisting 
experimental foods on an unsuspecting public.

I believe mandatory labeling is essential. We would not be able to make 
informed decisions without full knowlege. If the genetically altered food 
turn out to be hazadous, the consumer should be able to hold the producers 
responsible. 
I believe your proposal is for the benefit of the food industry and not 
the consumer. I do not wish to be a part of this experiment.
