FDA Commissioner Jane Henney Dockets Management Branch (HFA 305) Food and Drug Administration 5630 Fisher's Lane, rm. 1061 Rockville, MD 20852 RE: Docket No. 00N-1396, and 00D-1598 Dear Ms. Henney, I am writing to urge that the final policy on food labeling include mandatory labeling of foods with genetically engineered components. As a consumer, I have a write to know what I am feeding my children, and it simply is in line with existing requirements that all other food constituents be labeled. The FDA should apply the same logic to the new man-made ingredients and at least list them along with the other ingredients. Otherwise, how will I know if my children's allergic or toxic reaction was the result of a genetically engineered food. Do not give in to industry pressure: Your final rules should reflect the most cautious approach to protecting public health. Sincerely, Deborah E.
