Henney, Commissioner USFDA Dear Dr. Henney, I write to urge your taking action on establishing a system of meaningfully collecting data on the agricultural use of antibiotics in the US. Before probable abuse of anti-biotics by the agricultural industry can be controlled, it is essential to collect meaningful information on the use or abuse currently going on. This is vital to preserving the benefits of antibiotics for use in human illness, lest most of the antibiotics become ineffective against resistant organisms. I would appreciate hearing from you on this action, which I believe would be a good step in the first weeks of the Bush presidency. Sincerely R.
