Subject: Antibiotic Use in Agriculture

Dear Dr. Henney:
Please initiate a project to collect and report data on the quantity of
antibiotics used in U.S. agriculture. As a physician, I am sure you are well
aware of the increasing resistance numerous bacteria have shown to our
current arsenal of antibiotics. As a medical technologist working in a large
hospital (Christ Hospital, Oak Lawn, Illinois), I, too, am well aware of the
problem. Any human repercussions of agricultural antibiotic use should be
investigated and documented. Thank you.
