Subject: Downed Animals docket # 98P-0151/CP1

I'm writing to beg you to please prohibit the slaughter of downed animals. A downed animal is one too sick or injured to even stand and probably should not introduced into the human food chain. It is impossible to move a downed animal humanely and most of the animals are severely wounded. Downed animals comprise only a small percentage of all animals slaughtered. Prohibiting their marketing will cause no economic hardship.
