From: Betty Skatoff [BSkatoff@sagent.com] Sent: Monday, February 12, 2001 8:31 PM To: 'FDADockets@oc.fda.gov' Subject: Docket Number 98P-0151/CP1 Dear FDA: I would like to ask you to fully grant petition 98P-0151/CP1 to prohibit the slaughter of downed animals. Animals that are too sick or injured to even stand should not be allowed to enter the human food chain. There is some risk ot transferrence of disease to humans and it is not worth the chance to include these animals in the food chain. I would also submit that it would be in the interest of humane treatment to not cause further injury or pain to these already suffering animals. Downed animals are only a very small portion of the total animals slaughtered so support of this petition should not impact the profits of those who make money slaughtering animals for human consumption. Please stop this cruel and inhumane treatment now with the support of petition 98P-0151/CP1. Thank you for your consideration to treat animals in a fair and humane way.
