I am not necessarily opposed to biotechnology and all of its applications, but I do concur with many scientists and an international coalition of governments that call for precautionary testing and strict regulation of genetically engineered products to prevent harm to human health and the environment.
I am seriously concerned about the risks posed by genetically engineered foods in rejecting these proposed rules. I believe the proposed rules favor the interests of corporate agriculture and the biotechnology industry over the public's right to know about and choose products with acceptable ingredients.
The purposed rules deny consumers their right to know what we are putting into our bodies. I would like to see the FDA re-examine the purposed rules in an effort to hold corporate agriculture and the bio-tech industry more accountable.
