Comments for FDA General
Questions
1. General Comments The public _absolutely_ wants to know when they are buying or consuming a food or a product made with food that is genetically engineered or altered. The proposed rules call for voluntary GE free food labelling. The proposed rules favor the interests of corporate agriculture and the biotechnology industry over the public's right to know about and choose products with acceptable ingredients. The public, the farmers, and everyone in the developing and developed world have a right to know about, to choose, and to promote healthy, environmentally safe, and sustainable products. For this to be possible, we must protect, strengthen, and preserve our labelling laws, our organic and non-engineered seed banks, and our environmental protection laws. It is the responsibility of the FDA to heed us: we want MANDATORY labelleling of GE foods, and safe practices which exclude GMOs from our world whenever and where-ever we deem it necessary.
