1. General Comments there are two separate questions contained in this. one is whether such food can be shown to be safe and what the standard of proof really is. the other is, given that it is on the market, whether we havea right to know., the march of the fda over the decades is to increase the public's right to know. i see no reason to make an exception in this case. if an exception is made, it can only be because of pressure from industry. one industry spokesman said we may as well put a skull and crossbones on the label if we have to label the stuff. labeling should not be voluntary. it should be required.
