I am petitioning the FDA to remove fluoride supplements from the
market.  They are unapproved by your agency and should not be on the
market period.  Please remove them at once. Read the following letter:

Feb. 3, 2001

Dear Senator Domenici,  I am writing to you today because you are
submitting  bill S.223. This bill could turn science on it's head.  The
standard of 50 ppb was set in 1942 when arsenic was not considered a
class 1 human carcinogen.  Arsenic is more toxic then lead where the MCL
is 15ppb.  Fluoride is more toxic then lead, but the MCL is 4000 ppb or
4 ppm.  The standards must reflect the science period.  If the MCL of
lead is 15ppb, then fluoride’s MCL should be 12ppb, and arsenic's MCL
should be 10ppb. Do not pervert the science because of industry or water
company costs.
If you banned artificial fluoridation you would reduce or eliminate the
need for the water companies to spend money in the first place. Fluoride
is one of the most negatively charged ions in the periodic table, which
means that it is very attracted to positive ions, like heavy metals and
calcium.  Arsenic is the major trace element in this toxic soup or
powder, which comes from the scrubbers of the phosphate fertilizer
industry.  This arsenic laced fluoride is causing bladder & prostate
cancer and many other diseases, like Alzheimer’s disease. See

 Senator, tell Sen. Bob Smith to ban water fluoridation and most of your
arsenic problems will be reduced or eliminated. Fluoridation is in
retreat in Canada and Ireland and is banned in most European Union
Countries. Please help us remove fluoride and you will reduce arsenic in
all public water supplies that are fluoridated in the U.S.  Talk with
Congressman Senenbrenner and Calvert about this issue please.
