If a product is irradiated, it should say it has been irradiated. There is no need for a special, more pleasant term to be created. The label should tell the consumer exactly what has happened. With regards to question #2: The labeling requirements should NOT expire. Consumers have every right to know whether the food we are eating has been irradiated. That is as much if not more important as the ingredients contained in a package. Otherwise, those who choose to purchase food which has been irradiated would be unaware that they need to compensate in their diet for those vitamens that have been lost from the food.
