Dear Commissioner Henney,

I am writing to ask the FDA to establish reporting procedures for the use of antibiotics in livestock, especially when there is no established therapeutic need.  Clearly, the spread of drug-resistant organisms is related to this practice.  It would seem that a reporting system would be the first step in bringing it under control, with the aim ultimately of slowing down the spread of drug-resistant organisms, which is widely considered to be a growing threat to human life.

I would appreciate very much a reply to this letter, and the concern expressed in it.
