Dear Sir/Madam:

 I am writing to you today to urge you to please grant petition 98P-0151/CP1 to prohibit the slaughter of downed animals for human food.  Downed animals, animals who are too sick or injured even to stand, are being marketed and slaughtered for human food, causing intolerable animal suffering and threatening human health.

I join with thousands of others in urging the immediate granting of
Petition 98P-0151/CP1.
