Comments for FDA General
Questions
1. General Comments I am not in favor of voluntary labeling of foods which have NOT used GE ingredients. What I would like to see is Mandatory labeling..either in a separate area or in the ingredients list of foods which USE genetically altered ingredients. I do not think it is fair for the companies to have to bear the burden of proof that their product is free of GE material. Better that those who wish to use these products display that on the label, so that we the consumer can choose whether or not we wish to purchase it. This must be done before the proliferation of Genetically altered crops becomes so ingrained in our agriculture and food supply that we will end up having no say in the quality and contents of our food. The FDA works for the PEOPLE of the U.S., not Big Business and this person wants to see mandatory labeling for GE ingredients not the other way around. Thank You, Diane Wright
