Questions
1. General Comments Nothing should be allowed onto the public marketplace for purchase and/or consumption until it has been tested and deemed reasonably safe, then labeled. In these early, infant stages of biotechnology and genentic engineering, labeling and testing should be manatory. Later, we can make labeling and testing voluntary, but for now let's make it mandatory. The world shall need these methods of food production in the future, no argument there. But if a problem or disaster occurs anytime in the near future, while the industry and technology is just becoming more public, the whole time frame for public acceptance gets set back one to three generations.I want labeling and testing, just like drugs. I probably already buy food products with G.E.products in them. I know food production for the world must increase at some point in time( not just yet,but we need to be prepared). I also know that if anyone tries to sneak something over on me,I get pissed and resentful, whether for my benefit or not.Regulate now and de-regulate later.Of course I will sign any petition that puts this on the ballot.Don't screw up and get your names in the history books for the wrong reasons.Let WE, THE PEOPLE decide for now. Smoking or non-smoking. Paper or plastic. Regular or premium. Heathly salad or a roast beef sandwich. Put it out there , we'll decide. Robert J. White / Attleborough, Mass.
